Ashtanga Half-Primary: Hips, Strength and Breath

Balance among the Trees, Ardha Padmasana

Book in Calendar

An ever-evolving, really great morning practice for awakening the mind and body, based closely on the Ashtanga Primary series.

This class opens with Sun salutations, flowing standing poses progressing into seated postures and arm balances. You’ll get to know your body on a much deeper level through a blend of dynamic active movements for stability, and more passive movements for refined alignment.

Primary series is characterized by forward folds and twists, establishing a strong connection to the core and pelvic floor, from which all other postures can bloom, which prepares the body beautifully for backbends (most of which appear in second series).

*This will be a stronger class than previously taught, and increasingly similar to Ashtanga Primary Series.
