Arm Balances and Inversions are among the most beneficial asanas in yoga. Weight-bearing has been shown to improve bone density as we age, and the connections developed in the body can help us resolve aches and pains related to poor posture. Unfortunately, when practiced repetitively with misalignment or with fragmented technique, they can also contribute to gradual wear-down of the tissues in the shoulder joints and spine.
In this workshop, we’ll go back to the basics with a heightened awareness to discover how downward dog and sun salutations hold the secrets to inversions and postures like crow. Explore how bringing the breath under control can connect us with a deeper integration of strength and body awareness. Learn progressions for safely developing forearmstand, headstand and handstand on your own and with a wall.
